Ayn Rand developed a concept of living throughout her life, and intergrated it into her novels and such. She has become known and followed for this ideal, which regards man as the greatest accomplishment on earth. That is to say that man is seen as an amazing creature, capable of doing anything. Ayn has presented man's need in life to be self centered, and not to do things for other people, but rather to do things in your life for yourself, because you are the only person who can do such things. The architect in the fountainhead refused to change his designs, even though they failed publicly, and were called modern and bizarre. However, he succeeds in the end, by staying focused on his agenda, rather than the views of the world. Life is not designed for living as other people see fit; it is for living as you desire to live it.
